Hitachino Nest Weizen

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007
Hitachino Nest-Weizen Ale-Ibaraki, Japan
Found: Uwajimaya
Alcohol Content: 5.0%

Guerro: N/A

Herr: After the last two Hitachino beers I’m actually pretty scared of this beer. I mean Weizen is a beer even the originators of weizen get right less than half the time, so trusting the Japanese to do it right is not advisable. It has a sour citrus smell that the other two shared, just more hefe to it. Oh man. The good times are over. I don’t think I can drink a Hitachino Nest beer again. I don’t know what their game is but I believe they are trying to reanimate Hitler or something. There is just nothing good about this beer. It’s slightly (by fractions) better then the red rice ale but it’s still quite disgusting. I don’t know how this company stays in business.

Hitachino Nest Red Rice Ale

Hitachino Nest-Red Rice Ale-Ibaraki, Japan
Found: Uwajimaya
Alcohol Content: 5.0%

Herr: The aroma leaves much to be desired, it smells like a tire. The color is sort of unique, its a cloudy light amber color. After the last Hitachino beer I don’t have high expectations. God damn this beer is nasty. Like unnaturally nasty. It tastes half way between rotten fish and the stale air that comes out of a half flat tire. There is no reason for this beer to taste this way. It’s like the brewer has a vendetta against the world. I salute them in their drive and ambition at destroying the world one beer at a time but do not enjoy being the collateral damage.

GOD HATES SHRIMP!

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

I looked up the passages….they are real…and you thought gay people had it bad!

www.godhatesshrimp.com

God Hates Shrimp
“Shrimp, crab, lobster, clams, mussels, all these are an abomination before the Lord, just as gays are an abomination. Why stop at protesting gay marriage? Bring all of God’s law unto the heathens and the sodomites. We call upon all Christians to join the crusade against Long John Silver’s and Red Lobster. Yea, even Popeye’s shall be cleansed. The name of Bubba shall be anathema. We must stop the unbelievers from destroying the sanctity of our restaurants.”

Asahi Draft Beer

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007
Asahi Draft Beer-Japanese Rice Lager-Japan
Found: Uwajimaya Asian Market
Alcohol Content: 5%

Guerro: N/A

Herr: Pours like a standard lager, thin head, golden color. Smells like typical lager also. The flavor is a little unique though. This beer is VERY smooth, and feels ‘light’ when you drink it, it’s a little hard to describe. Over all its a little typical but the smoothness is really favorable.

Herr: Pours like a standard lager, thin head, golden color. Smells like typical lager also. Flavor, like most generic lagers, although a bit dry and a little bitter. It’s a little bland but non threatening. Over all just average, basically a Budweiser of Asian beer.

Fezziwig Ale

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007
Sam Addam’s Fezziwig Ale-Ale-Boston,Mass
Found: The fridge at work
Alcohol Content: 5.9%

Guerro: So yeah this beer has been in the fridge at my work for about a year and a half. It was a “payment” for some side work along with some guinness and other assorted beers. According to one of the guys this stuff tastes like shit. I will soon find out(written@5:57pst).

(6:30 or so) Smells like your average ale. Tastes like ale with what I can only imagine is the entire Boston “bomb squad” AKA lets blow up harmless things, urine. Supposedly mixed with Ginger and Orange this beer tastes like I was just violated with a catheter in my mouth. Im several beers deep and this one still isnt drinkable. If it ever gets brewed again, I dont reccomend picking this one up. I think I’m going to find a baby to stab.

God made dinos?

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

Just another wonderful reason why I don’t go to church.

How god made the Dinosaurs

“Why Do We Find Dinosaur Fossils?
In Genesis 6, we read that all flesh (man and animals) had ‘corrupted his way upon the Earth’ (Genesis 6:12). Perhaps people and animals were killing each other; maybe dinosaurs had started killing other animals and humans. In any case, the Bible describes the world as ‘wicked.’

Because of this wickedness, God warned a godly man named Noah that He was going to destroy the world with a Flood (Genesis 6:13). God therefore commanded him to build a great ship (the Ark) so that all the kinds of land animals (which must have included dinosaurs) and Noah’s family could survive on board while the Flood destroyed the entire Earth (Genesis 6:14-20).”

Traquair House Ale

Sunday, February 25th, 2007
Traquair House Ale-Ale-Yorks, Scottland
Found: Top Food & Drug
Alcohol Content: 7.2%

Guerro: N/A

Herr: Has a light smell, sort of nutty and malt sweet. Pours a short head that dissipates rather quick. It has a dark brown color. It has a complex flavor, starts out sweet, middles out bitter but has a non bitter aftertaste which is pretty interesting. It is sweet and rich and caramel and roasty all at the same time. It is dry and amber like. Coming from Scotland this is much more enjoyable than I’d expected, and it is a definite recommend from me.

Samuel Smith’s Nut Brown Ale

Sunday, February 25th, 2007
Samuel Smith’s Nut Brown Ale-Ale-Yorks, England
Found: Top Food & Drug
Alcohol Content: 5%

Guerro: According the the guy that was there at the tasting deal down at “the bottles” there isnt any nuts in this beer. They add a special kind of hoppes to get that “nut brown” color. Good stuff!

Herr: Has a very light smell of sweet malt. The color is about what the name says, nut brown, with a slightly red tint. The taste is very clean and stout like with that bitter finish, but very light and not overpowering like many stouts are. Has a little dry hint of wood to it. Reminds me of amber ales, but very dry. Overall enjoyable and refreshing.
